The Council of the District of Columbia arranged for a group of six Capital Partners for Education (CPE) students to tour its offices in the stately Wilson Building. The students who were selected to participate in the tour all have expressed interest in policy and law, and thus were excited to learn about the unique workings of the Council. Students sat in on two hearings and had the opportunity to ask their tour guide, Attorney Shawn Hilgendorf, questions afterwards. They were primarily curious about about structure of the Council and the types of jobs available in the office.
CPE was able to coordinate this tour through its Corporate Advisory Council co-chair, Sean Mitchell (Bank of America). We are grateful for this opportunity to give students a hands-on learning experience! Thank you Sean and the Council of the District of Columbia!
