John Thompson Jr. Legacy of a Dream Award Ceremony

Khari Brown Receives Legacy of a Dream Award

To honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., our CEO, Khari Brown, was awarded the 2022 John Thompson Jr. Legacy of a Dream Award by Georgetown University. This award was given in recognition of his extraordinary efforts to support educational pathways, equity, and achievement for young people from vulnerable and low-income backgrounds and communities within the District of Columbia.

The virtual ceremony was led by Rev. Ebony Grisom, the director of Protestant Christian ministry at Georgetown University on January 17, 2022. She was joined by three Georgetown students, President DeGioia, and members of Coach Thompson’s family. If you missed this inspiring event, you can watch the recording.

“Coach Thompson was a hero of mine. He stood for values that are very important to me. His passion, not just for winning but for education and for racial equity, are things I’ve tried to carry on with me in how I lead.” – Khari Brown, CEO of CPE
