CPE Employee Spotlight with Muhammed Abbas Abdulkarimu

Muhammed is a Program Specialist at CPE where he helps manages a caseload of student-mentor pairs for CPE’s high school program. He also works directly with program coordinators, providing continuous coaching and guidance. He serves as a resource and support system for CPE’s high school students and their mentors to help ensure our students are developing a meaningful relationship with their mentor and cultivating the skills they need to get to and through college. What college did you attend?

I attended Goucher College and received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?

I would love to learn more about video production and photography. It’s nice to have a creative outlet to capture the beautiful moments around me.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

I’m a huge sneaker head. So, in my free time I enjoy attending sneaker meet ups, updating my own sneaker collection and helping my friends secure their shoes. I can’t wait to get my second pair of cool grey 11’s.

If you could meet anyone, who would it be?

Mark Phillips who is part of the YouTube group, RDCworld1. He’s a content creator that focuses on pop culture, sports, and anime! He does it in a funny way to relate to it. I would want to meet him because we have similar interests and his content always puts a smile on my face. I would love to be a part of one of his skits too.

What three traits define you?

The three traits that best describe me are silly, energetic, and kind-hearted.

What’s the most rewarding aspect about your role at CPE?

CPE’s ability to help students with things that go beyond just academics such as supporting our families with financial assistance through our emergency fund request.

What is your favorite part about working for CPE?

My favorite part about working for CPE is not only seeing the students grow, but seeing our organization grow as well. We are always striving to do more for our students. I also love connecting with our community especially through our events! I am a people person and I am really grateful for the meaningful relationships I have made with the mentors, students, and their families.
