Danielle Moni Zoobo became a CPE student in 2011. She credits CPE for playing an important role in her high school success by way of conducting school visits and by providing financial support. When she decided to attend Hamilton College, CPE continued to support Danielle and her family by continuing to provide emergency funds so she could purchase needed materials. While at Hamilton, Danielle majored in World Politics and afterwards went on to receive her MBA from London-based university, Saint Mary’s University, Twickenham.
In July 2021, Danielle will graduate from Saint Mary’s with distinction, the highest academic honor offered in the British higher education system. Danielle currently works as an associate for the Communities Anti-Drug Coalitions of America but hopes to soon transition to an organization with a deeper international focus. Ultimately, Danielle hopes to have a career in a federal agency or an organization focused on creating a more just and democratic society.
What’s one memorable moment you have of you and your mentor?
I will always remember the first time my mentor, Tracy, took me to her office. As a young girl in high school, it was incredibly powerful to see a successful Black woman have her own office in a major law firm. As I sat in her office, I remember feeling extremely grateful to have such an incredible representation of everything I can achieve as long as I follow my passion and use my gifts well.
How did your mentor help you with the college application process?
Tracy was very supportive during the college application process. I applied to about 15 colleges throughout the US and when I finally chose Hamilton, she was with me (over the phone) throughout my time there. She has always affirmed me and my dreams.
What college did you go to and what career path did you choose?
I chose to attend Hamilton College in NY and afterwards, Saint Mary’s University, Twickenham in London for my MBA.
In what ways has CPE impacted your life?
CPE not only gave me an incredible mentor and friend, but throughout my college experience helped me pay for books. If it wasn’t for Isha and the entire CPE team, I would have had a much harder time feeling prepared for my classes. CPE is a huge reason for my success and I cannot wait to give back one day in the form of hopefully mentoring someone.
What do you enjoy doing with your free time?
I enjoy reading, discovering new activities by myself, cooking, and listening to music.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
My mentor, Tracy, once told me that friendships are measured by how much grace you are each willing to extend to one another.
