Dear Friend of CPE,
Over the past month, more than 350 CPE students went back to school. This is our largest enrollment to date, and more than triple the number of students enrolled in our program just five years ago. In the coming months, we are going to update you on the successes and challenges faced by our high school and college students, and how their mentors and CPE programs help to minimize barriers to college graduation and career attainment. We hope you join us on their journey to college graduation and career entry.
We are particularly excited by the growth in our college mentoring program, which we call “Transformers.” Founded in 2013 as an extension of our high school mentoring program, this fall we will mentor 155 college students, all CPE high school graduates. They range from college freshmen to seniors, and are enrolled in 75 colleges and universities across the country. While their first generation to college peers are very likely to drop out of college by the end of their freshman year, CPE Transformers are persisting in college at more than an 80% rate. We are proud that the relationships developed among our students, mentors, staff, and supporters like you have created a network of success that enable our students to embrace the promise of a more prosperous future, and we intend to build on this success in years to come.
Please look out for upcoming communications from me and other members of the CPE staff as we update you on our students and mentors, and share reflections on the power of our collective contributions. Together, we truly make a difference. Thank you for your continued support.
