HIGH EXPECTATIONS
Staff, students and mentors will all challenge ourselves as we reach our goals. We will value learning and the opportunities the CPE program and our schools present. We will stay committed to all aspects of the CPE program. We will work hard and smart. We will respond positively and do our best to improve when given direction, advice, and constructive criticism from CPE staff, our mentors, families, and schools. We will pursue our goals persistently in the face of obstacles.
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
All CPE members are accountable for our actions. We understand we are each responsible for the choices we make in life, and we do not blame others for our choices or behavior. We accept that we will sometimes make mistakes, but we will learn from those mistakes. We will be honest so we can build trust and respect. We will be dependable and reliable, and punctual — keeping appointments and following through on commitments we make. We will seek help from others when needed. We will be responsible for our own work.

RESPECT
Every person involved in CPE will respect others and receive respect in return. To receive respect, we must show that we deserve respect through our own actions. This includes being personally responsible and respectful toward family, teachers, school, CPE, peers, and all others. We will respect ourselves by behaving appropriately and working to the best of our ability. We will treat others as we would like to be treated. We respect our individual roles in the CPE organization and understand that we represent CPE at all times.
GIVING BACK
We will do what we can to help others while we are actively participating in the CPE program. CPE graduates will go on to become leaders in their communities, mentors to the next generation of young people, and always do their best to help others who are in need.

SUPPORT
CPE’s network of staff, volunteers, current students and alumni are like a family, and we will support each other whenever possible. We trust each other and understand that we are role models for those around us. We care about each other and are dedicated to helping each individual reach his or her potential. We recognize that support includes having fun together.

CPE expects everyone involved in the program to understand and act on five basic values.

First, CPE has high expectations for everyone involved in the organization. These expectations take shape with the idea that all CPE members take personal responsibility for their actions and will respect themselves and others. CPE’s program is based upon providing support for other members of the organization, and CPE is possible because many people give back to help CPE students achieve their goal of going to college.
