Studies show that mentoring has a positive impact on at-risk youth. Students with mentors do better in school and have fewer problems with drugs and delinquency. CPE believes that mentoring is especially valuable for our students as they make the sometimes difficult social transition from public middle school to private high school. CPE’s mentoring program meets all of the nationally recognized best practices criteria for effective mentor programs, and is one of the reasons why ninety-seven percent of CPE graduates go to college.
Each student enrolled in the CPE program is matched with a mentor. CPE’s volunteer mentors come from a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds and are recruited through a variety of area businesses, organizations and graduate schools.
