The primary goals of the Academic Support and Enrichment opportunities CPE offers
are to increase student performance and reduce attrition. Academic support at CPE comes in the form of three key initiatives:

Student-Mentor Coordinator Case Management
Two Student-Mentor Coordinators engage in frequent contact with the student, family,
CPE mentor, teachers, and school administrators. Through school visits, parent conferences, and grade monitoring, our Student-Mentor Coordinators are able to assess each student and create personalized action plans to address their needs.   

Study Skills Workshops
The quarterly Study Skills workshops are designed to develop effective habits and techniques, so that CPE students can apply these skills to their current course-load, catching up with many of their private high school peers, who have already been exposed to effective study skills in middle school or at home.

Summer Readiness
The multi-faceted Summer Readiness Program is designed to better prepare incoming students for the academic and social challenges that they may face in the transition from middle school to private high school.

• CPE requires each incoming freshman to take two summer school classes with the objective of improving students’ performance in core subjects and familiarizing them with their private high school.
• As a part of the New Student Orientation, students attend an overnight retreat in which they are briefed on and acclimated to the expectations of the CPE program; set personal and academic goals; and prepare for the many challenges they will face in high school.
• To conclude New Student Orientation, students and parents participate in two days of workshops led by CPE staff designed to complement the lessons learned during the retreat and to finalize preparations for the school year.
