Mission and History | CPE Values | Board | Staff | Jobs with CPE
High Expectations
CPE has high expectations for everyone involved in the organization. Staff, students and mentors will all be ambitious and continue to challenging ourselves as we reach our goals. We will “work hard and smart.” We will be “coachable,” meaning we will respond positively and do our best to improve when given direction, advice and constructive criticism from CPE staff, our mentors, families and schools. We will be persistent in pursuing our goals when we face obstacles. We will value learning and the opportunities we have through our involvement with the CPE program. We will maintain our commitment to all aspects of the CPE program.
Personal Responsibility
Personal responsibility is a core value of the CPE organization; all members will be accountable for their actions. We understand that each individual is responsible for the choices he or she makes in life and we do not blame others for our own choices or behavior. We accept that we will make mistakes at times but we will learn from the mistakes we make. We will be honest so that we can build trust and respect. We will be dependable and reliable, including being punctual, keeping appointments and following through on commitments we make. We will seek help from others when needed. We will be responsible for our own work.
Respect
Respect is a vital component of the CPE program; every person involved in CPE will respect others and receive respect in return. In order to receive respect one must show that they are deserving of respect through their own actions. This includes being personally responsible and respectful toward one’s family, teachers, school, CPE, peers and all others. We will respect ourselves by behaving appropriately and working to the best of our ability. We will treat others as we would like to be treated. We respect our individual roles in the CPE organization and understand that we represent CPE at all times.
Support
CPE’s program is based upon providing support for other members of the organization. CPE’s network of staff, volunteers, current students and alumni are like one big family and we will support each other whenever possible. We trust each other and understand that we are all role models for those around us. We care about each other and are dedicated to helping each individual reach his or her potential. We recognize that support includes having fun together.
Giving Back
The CPE program is made possible because hundreds of people each year give back to help CPE students achieve their goal of going to college. Giving back is a core value of everyone involved with CPE and it is important that we all develop, share and act on this value. We will do what we can to help others while we are actively participating in the CPE program. CPE graduates will go on to become leaders in their communities, mentors to the next generation of young people, and always do their best to help others who are in need.
